Dubai Metro Blue Line construction is now 10% complete within just five months, with expectations to hit 30% by next year’s end, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced.

The RTA has mobilized 3,000 workers across 12 sites to finish the project by September 9, 2029, benefiting residential, industrial, and economic zones.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, highlighted that this progress was made five months post-groundbreaking in June 2025. Over 500 engineers and experts, alongside 3,000 workers, are working at 12 sites to ensure swift advancement and provide top-tier service linking Dubai’s key residential, academic, economic, and tourism areas.

The Dubai Metro Blue Line spans 30 km with 14 stations.

It runs in two directions. The first starts at Creek Interchange Station on the Green Line in Al Jaddaf, passing through Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, ending at Dubai Academic City via International City (1), which has an underground interchange. This 21 km section includes 10 stations.

The second segment begins at Centrepoint Interchange Station on the Red Line in Al Rashidiya, through Mirdif and Al Warqa, connecting to International City (1). This 9 km stretch comprises four stations, and the project includes a depot and maintenance facility in Al Ruwayyah 3.

“The line integrates the Red and Green Lines of Dubai Metro, serving areas projected to house around one million residents by 2040. It also provides a direct 20-minute route to Dubai International Airport,” Al Tayer stated, emphasizing its role in boosting life quality and realizing the ‘20-minute city’ concept, allowing access to over 80% of essential services within 20 minutes.

Al Tayer added that engineering teams are making swift progress.

He detailed that over 260 deep foundations are complete, with excavation surpassing 400,000 cubic metres at station sites in International City (1), (2), and (3). Columns are built in Academic City, and retaining walls at underground sites like International City (1), facilitating further excavation and construction phases.

The project team has set up two concrete plants and storage yards in Al Ruwayyah 3 and International City, ensuring quality control and efficient material management, reducing timelines and improving logistics.

They have achieved over 3 million safe work hours without any fatalities.
