Dubai Municipality has refuted rumors circulating on WhatsApp about an illness allegedly spread by shisha users.
Reda Salman, director of the Health and Safety Department, clarified to the Arabic news site 24 that the illness known as “sol” is not transmitted through shisha use.
The municipality has not received any health alerts indicating this issue in the UAE.
He emphasized that the municipality has implemented all necessary safety measures, requiring cafe owners to offer single-use shisha tubes to customers.
“Our main objective is to prevent the spread of illnesses through such means in cafes and coffee houses,” Salman stated.
