Dubai’s digital asset sector is growing swiftly. Entities licensed by Vara have reported trading volumes surpassing Dh2.5 trillion ($680 billion) in 2025, with assets under management exceeding Dh9.6 billion. The sector contributes about 0.5% to Dubai’s GDP, with expectations to hit 3% soon, as regulatory clarity and infrastructure draw global institutional investors.
Selini Capital, a global digital asset trading firm, has secured a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license from Dubai’s Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (Vara). This license permits Selini to offer comprehensive broker-dealer and OTC trading services to qualified and institutional investors worldwide, within Dubai’s strong regulatory environment.
Selini Capital enters the market as Dubai emerges as a hub for regulated, institutional-grade digital asset trading. The firm’s emphasis on execution excellence, compliance-first operations, and regional integration positions it as a crucial player in linking global liquidity with the UAE’s burgeoning crypto ecosystem.
The approval follows a thorough assessment where Selini showcased strict compliance, risk management, and operational controls, aligning with Vara’s high standards for regulated digital asset businesses. Its Dubai-based entity, Selini Capital, will act as a regional hub, enhancing partnerships with global and regional market players and contributing to Dubai’s rapidly expanding digital asset ecosystem.
“Securing the Vara license is a significant achievement for Selini,” stated Jordi Alexander, Founder of Selini Capital. “Dubai’s regulatory framework is among the most progressive globally. It offers the transparency, security, and institutional standards needed in digital asset markets. We are eager to help shape a regulated, thriving crypto ecosystem.”
Matthew Grint, General Manager of Selini Capital FZE, noted: “Our cutting-edge trading technology and global liquidity presence enable partners to access highly efficient execution and innovative OTC solutions. This license underscores our commitment to maintaining high standards and supporting Dubai’s vision for a secure, globally connected digital asset economy.”
