Traditionally, the Russian president participates in the forum annually. Putin is expected to focus on what he previously described as “the most important factor in strengthening Russia’s position globally” and “Russia’s leader in the new global economic reality.” Putin has announced his intention to continuously improve the business climate and implement more effective methods of cooperation with foreign investors in the Far East.
In one of the previous forums, the establishment of international accelerated development zones in the Far East was announced, which should offer globally competitive conditions for investors, especially from friendly countries. Discussions about projects in these international zones with foreign investors have been included in this year’s forum agenda.
The discussions in the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum usually address global economic and political issues and some current events. For instance, in 2024, questions were raised about cooperation within BRICS, the upcoming summit of the bloc, the trend of abandoning the dollar, the Ukrainian conflict, and relations with the West.
The forum, held annually since 2015 (except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), is a major platform for enhancing investment attractiveness in the Far East and developing international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The tenth forum is scheduled from September 3 to 6 in Vladivostok, on the grounds of the Far Eastern Federal University, under the slogan: “The Far East – Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity.” Sputnik agency is the general media partner of the forum.
