The group stated in a statement: “ECOWAS will support the government and the people with all necessary means, including the deployment of regional reserve forces, to defend the constitution of Benin and its territorial integrity.”
Later, Interior Minister Alhassan Sido appeared on national television, announced the restoration of order, and urged citizens to return to their normal lives.
