This came during the meeting between Egyptian President El-Sisi and the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on Monday, as reported by ‘Cairo News’. According to the Egyptian presidential spokesperson, the meeting emphasized the utmost importance that Egypt and Qatar place on achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, in coordination with the United States of America.

Both sides stressed the importance of urgently allowing the entry of humanitarian aid without obstacles and the release of hostages and prisoners. They affirmed Cairo and Doha’s absolute rejection of the reoccupation of the Gaza Strip and any attempts from their lands. They emphasized that ‘the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to international legitimacy resolutions, is the only way to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.’

From October 7, 2023, until August 17 of this year, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of approximately 62,000 Palestinians, in addition to about 156,000 injured, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
