Cairo News reported that Major General Hassan Rashad, head of Egyptian General Intelligence, met with Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin. They agreed on the necessity of ending the war in Gaza as soon as possible based on mediators’ proposals.
In the same context, the Egyptian and Turkish officials discussed regional and international developments, especially concerning Sudan and Libya.
Earlier last month, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Ankara had made progress with Cairo on all fronts and aims to increase bilateral trade to 15 billion dollars.
He added in a press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty that “relations between Egypt and Turkey have reached an advanced stage in many fields, and there is convergence in views on regional issues,” explaining, “We have developed a joint strategy with Egypt to solve regional problems.”
For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty, during a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart in Cairo, affirmed that the talks between the two sides were “positive and fruitful,” emphasizing that the clarity of political will is sufficient to open all doors between Egypt and Turkey. There is anticipation for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Egypt next year.
