The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, considered the targeting of the Nasser Medical Complex as a new episode in the series of blatant Israeli violations of international law. It expressed its condemnation of the occupation’s deliberate targeting of journalists and workers in the medical and humanitarian fields. The statement affirmed Egypt’s rejection of the crimes of genocide committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier today, reports from Khan Younis indicated that 14 people, including 3 journalists, were killed in an Israeli bombing targeting the reception and emergency building. Media sources confirmed the death of 4 journalists in the strike.
In response, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced that the death toll of journalists has risen to 244 since the beginning of the conflict in October 2023, following the killing of 4 journalists by Israeli shelling on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip. The office stated, “The number of martyr journalists has increased to 244 since the start of the genocide war on the Gaza Strip, following the announcement of the martyrdom of our journalist colleagues: martyr journalist Hossam Al-Masry, a photojournalist with Reuters, martyr journalist Mohammed Salama, a photojournalist with Al Jazeera, martyr journalist Mariam Abu Dakka, a journalist with several media outlets including Independent Arabia and Associated Press, and martyr journalist Muath Abu Taha, a journalist with NBC News.”

Recently, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate announced that “the Israeli army has killed 219 journalists and media workers in the Palestinian media sector” since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
Residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from unprecedented levels of hunger, with UN organizations warning of widespread famine and rising death tolls, especially among children, patients, and people with disabilities.
From October 7, 2023, to August 21, 2025, the war on Gaza has resulted in the deaths of approximately 62,000 Palestinians, in addition to around 157,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
