The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El Shennawy, announced through his official social media accounts on Tuesday evening that “President El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s strong condemnation and severe denunciation of the aggressive action committed by Israel against the State of Qatar.” The Egyptian President affirmed his country’s absolute rejection of any violation affecting Qatar’s sovereignty, emphasizing “Egypt’s full solidarity, both in leadership and people, with Doha in confronting this blatant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, considering it a provocative aggression on the sovereignty of a brotherly Arab state and an unacceptable threat to its security, safety, and territorial integrity.” El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s full support for any steps Qatar takes to protect its security and stability.
On his part, Ambassador El Shennawy mentioned that “the Emir of the State of Qatar expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s stance, valuing the fraternal relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples.” He added, “The leaders targeted were leading Hamas’ terrorist activities over the years and bear direct responsibility for the acts committed on October 7, 2023, and managing the war against Israel.” The Israeli army continued in its statement: “The army and Shin Bet will continue to act decisively until the organization responsible for October 7 is eliminated.”
Earlier, the Israeli Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, threatened to eliminate Hamas leaders abroad amid the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
