During the meeting “The Day After and Supporting Stability in Gaza” at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, Madbouly emphasized the necessity of supporting mediators’ efforts to cease fire in the Gaza Strip. He affirmed Egypt’s rejection of any attempts or ideas to displace the Palestinian people. He added that displacing Palestinians would expand and extend the conflict to other countries in the region, stating: “The Gaza Strip should not be treated in isolation from the causes and roots of the conflict.”
The Egyptian Prime Minister stressed the need to implement clear paths and mechanisms to realize the Palestinian state and to address Gaza as an integral part of the Palestinian state. He emphasized the immediate necessity to cease fire in Gaza and release detainees.
Madbouly also highlighted the importance of the West Bank and Gaza being under one governance system, represented by the Palestinian Authority, and that the state’s institutions should have the exclusive right to possess weapons. He stated that all armed factions should surrender their weapons to the Palestinian Authority as the legitimate authority.
The declaration supporting the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is the result of an international conference hosted by the United Nations and organized by Saudi Arabia and France last July to discuss the course of the decades-long conflict. It is worth noting that the two-state solution is a political proposal aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by establishing two independent states: a Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, alongside the State of Israel, which aligns with the vision of the international community.
