The minister confirmed in exclusive statements to ‘Al-Masry Al-Youm’ on the sidelines of the inaugural seminar of the ‘Maspero Cultural Salon’ program, organized by the National Media Authority today, Saturday, that ‘all barriers will be removed, and roads will be opened to foreign embassies without exception.’ This decision comes following the removal of security barriers in front of the British Embassy in central Cairo at the end of August.

The British Embassy in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, announced last Sunday the closure of its main building hours after Egyptian authorities removed the surrounding security barriers. The Egyptian authorities had removed the concrete barriers around the embassy building in the Garden City area in Cairo as part of a plan to ease traffic in the area and adjacent streets.

In August, Abdel Aaty revealed strict instructions to Egyptian embassies abroad not to allow any tarnishing of their image, affirming a firm handling of previous incidents, including one that ended with the arrest of the perpetrator. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry has repeatedly emphasized that any attack or attempt to target its diplomatic premises will not be tolerated, stressing that the response will be firm through legal means or through the principle of ‘reciprocity.’
