In statements broadcast by television stations on Wednesday evening, it was mentioned that imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank is a priority that precedes the expansion of the ‘Abraham’ peace agreements, according to his expression. Eli Cohen clarified that ‘between the sea and the river there will be one state, the state of the Jewish people,’ adding, ‘We are going through a historical period, and this is the time to impose sovereignty over the West Bank and dismantle.’ The idea of imposing sovereignty over the West Bank and the term ‘Greater Israel’ dates back to after the 1967 war, during which Israel occupied Palestinian and Arab lands. It is a phrase associated with an alleged geographical context regarding the borders of the State of Israel in the region. In June 1967, Israel occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the West Bank, as well as the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt and the Golan Heights in Syria. Last January, an online page affiliated with the Israeli Foreign Ministry published an alleged map that includes parts of Palestinian land, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt. Israel still occupies lands in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon and refuses to withdraw from them or allow the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the borders of June 5, 1967. Currently, it is engaged in a wide-scale war against the Gaza Strip that has been ongoing since October 7, causing the deaths of more than 61,000 Palestinians and injuring about 153,000 others, according to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza. Meanwhile, Netanyahu rejects all local and international calls to end the war and opposes any internal voices demanding a truce deal.
