The Egyptian military spokesperson explained that the training is conducted over several days during the current month of September, with the participation of units from the Egyptian and Turkish naval forces. The spokesperson added that the “Sea of Friendship – 2025” training includes numerous lectures and naval activities to hone the skills of the participating elements, enhance their efficiency, and unify operational concepts, which increases their combat capabilities to perform tasks efficiently and competently.

The training is part of the joint training plan conducted by the Egyptian army in cooperation with its counterparts from brotherly and friendly countries in various specialties, contributing to strengthening military cooperation and exchanging experiences according to the latest tactics and modern combat methods.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced last Thursday the resumption of the “Sea of Friendship” joint military exercises between Turkey and Egypt in the Mediterranean Sea, after a 13-year hiatus. This was stated during a press briefing by the Turkish Ministry of Defense spokesperson, Zeki Ak Turuk, in the capital, Ankara. Ak Turuk explained that the exercises will take place from September 22 to 26 in the eastern Mediterranean region.

He pointed out that these maneuvers represent the first joint military cooperation between the two countries after a long break, aiming to enhance bilateral relations and develop the ability to work jointly between the Turkish and Egyptian naval forces. In this context, several naval units will participate in the exercises, including the Turkish frigates “TCG Reis Oruç” and “TCG Gediz”, as well as the attack boats “TCG Imbat” and “TCG Bora”, the submarine “TCG Gur”, and two F-16 aircraft, alongside Egyptian naval units.
