In an interview with ‘Sputnik’ radio, Namura stated that ‘activating the military and diplomatic joint defense mechanisms between these countries is a positive step in the right direction.’ He pointed out that ‘this would serve as a deterrent, making one think a thousand times before attacking any Arab or Islamic country.’ He noted that ‘the response of Arab countries to attend this summit is a clear and strong expression of Arab commitment,’ calling for ‘the issuance of strict decisions and a clear message to Israel not to overreach.’
Namura considered Netanyahu’s statement after 23 months that Israel is living in isolation as a significant new development. He highlighted that ‘what happened in the past days at the General Assembly is a referendum on Palestinian rights, with 122 countries voting in favor of the State of Palestine,’ saying that ‘the United States must realize it cannot continue to antagonize all the peoples of the world through this vote.’
Namura emphasized ‘the necessity of rescuing the Palestinian people and that Israel must withdraw from the sector,’ adding, ‘the moment the war stops, there is no justification for any Israeli soldier to remain inside the Gaza Strip.’ He called for ‘an international stance that adheres to the outcomes of the Arab summit in Cairo.’
Israel continues its war on the sector since October 2023, resulting in approximately 64,000 Palestinian deaths and around 163,000 injuries. It also conducts repeated air raids on several countries in the region, notably Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Qatar, in addition to its war on Iran which lasted 12 days.
