Al-Shorouk reported on Saturday evening that Abdel Aty’s remarks were made during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Saturday. He emphasized that Egypt is fully ready and committed to building on Trump’s vision to restore stability and end the war. He explained that Egypt seeks to open a political horizon leading to the realization of a Palestinian state and the release of hostages and prisoners, noting that his country has devoted all its efforts since the outbreak of the Israeli war in Gaza to reach a sustainable ceasefire agreement in the sector and resume the unobstructed entry of aid to end the current famine in Gaza.
He stressed that “the continuation of the Israeli occupation and the genocide happening today in Gaza, along with the denial of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to establish their independent state along the lines of June 4, 1967, renders any talk of security and peace in the region meaningless.” He continued that “Egypt will never be a gateway for the displacement of the Palestinian people,” emphasizing “the necessity to end the famine in Gaza and solidarity to bring in aid.”
He added, “Our hand is extended in peace, and President Sisi affirms that peace is our strategic option,” continuing, “The hands of Israeli aggression have extended to the countries of the region one after another, the latest being the treacherous attack on the State of Qatar.” Israel continues its war on the sector since October 2023, a war that has claimed the lives of more than 65,000 Palestinians and injured over 167,000, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
