Emma Watson expressed her longing for acting, but she doesn’t miss the “soul-destroying” task of promoting and marketing the films she’s been part of.
“In many ways, I’ve been incredibly fortunate with my acting career, and my experiences have been quite extraordinary,” Watson shared with Deadline.
“However, a significant aspect beyond the acting itself is the promotion and selling of the work, this art piece. The balance can be quite disrupted. Honestly, I don’t miss the selling part. It felt soul-destroying to me,” she admitted.
“I miss using my skills and the art form itself. I realized I rarely got to indulge in the part I truly loved,” she told Deadline.
She commented on the short rehearsal times, “But when you get to discuss a scene — preparing and considering your approach — and then when the camera rolls, you forget everything else. It’s an intense meditation,” she explained.
“Because you can’t be anywhere else. It’s liberating. I deeply miss that. But I don’t miss the pressure,” she added.
Watson also hinted at working on a new, unexplored project, encouraging fans to stay tuned.
Even with her acting break, she mentioned, “I’m probably the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been.”
“As an actor, it’s fascinating how you can split into different personalities,” she noted.
