The Israeli newspaper ‘Maariv’ reported on Thursday morning that hundreds of Israeli women protested in front of Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem. They raised the slogan ‘We will not leave until everyone leaves Gaza,’ demanding a prisoner exchange deal with the Palestinian Hamas movement.
The newspaper explained that the women, who are demanding the return of those held by Hamas in Gaza, organized a protest near Netanyahu’s house in Jerusalem. They raised the slogan ‘We are here until the decision-maker takes the action that the entire people are waiting for.’
The Israeli demonstrators stated that ‘the prisoners and hostages are starving in the tunnels, and the public is fighting for them in the streets, while Netanyahu and his partners interrupt government debates that could have ended the war to dine in luxurious restaurants,’ according to the newspaper.
Israel resumed its bombing of the Gaza Strip on March 18, after a pause of about two months, specifically since the start of an agreement with Hamas on January 19, following stalled negotiations to extend the first phase of the agreement or move to its second phase.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel was supposed to continue, once the first phase was extended, which ended on March 1, or entering its second phase. However, disagreements between Israel and Hamas regarding the next steps prevented this.
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed Moscow’s concern about the escalation in Gaza and the civilian casualties, confirming that Moscow is closely monitoring the situation and looks forward to returning to the path of peace.
