He added in statements to ‘Sputnik’ that last November ‘witnessed more than 2,144 recorded assaults, with the occupation army executing 1,500 assaults, while settlers carried out about 700 assaults.’ Brejieh pointed out that these numbers illustrate that Israeli violations are part of an extremist government policy that directs and introduces laws to facilitate and remove obstacles for settlers to expand settlements.
He stated that the war waged by Israel on the Palestinian people takes on a military nature in the Gaza Strip, where the occupation practices genocide, while in the West Bank, it practices what he described as creeping annexation and settlement warfare, with continuous pressure towards the forced displacement of Palestinians.
Brejieh noted that these policies prevent Palestinians from accessing their land and homes through the deployment of gates, barriers, and settlement walls, or by building the separation wall, affirming that this is the systematic policy currently followed in the West Bank.
Israeli media reported that ‘the Israeli army intends to build a wall in the Jordan Valley to separate settlements from Palestinian villages and to isolate these villages from each other.’ The Israeli newspaper ‘Haaretz’ reported that a wall is on its way to being erected in the heart of the Jordan Valley, and the planned wall will be 22 kilometers long and 50 meters wide.
It is noteworthy that the West Bank is witnessing escalating tension with the continued Israeli military operations against it, which include raids, home demolitions, and arrests. At the same time, Israel is accused of ‘targeting its security apparatus and undermining its efforts to achieve security.’ This coincides with the Gaza truce, reached after nearly two years of war, which claimed the lives of nearly 70,000 Palestinians and injured about 170,000.
