The ministry indicated that the escalation of border tensions, following the explosions that occurred in the Afghan capital Kabul on October 9, was a major backdrop for this round. Five people were killed and others injured on Friday in an exchange of gunfire on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Afghan authorities stated, “The five victims are four women and one man, while six others were injured in the incident,” confirming that “Pakistani forces fired again on the Spin Boldak border area.” In turn, Pakistan blamed Afghanistan for the gunfire on the border between the two countries, asserting that it “responded in a calculated manner.” It was noted that the Afghan representatives, “based on the instructions of their leadership, participated in the Istanbul talks on November 6 and 7 with good intentions and high confidence.”
