He pointed out that he was not aware of the tent’s existence, adding that authorities in Washington had previously removed hundreds of tents as part of crime-fighting efforts, and that this tent would be removed immediately.

The tent, which has stood for more than three decades, is considered a prominent symbol of anti-war protests in the United States, where it was used to express opposition to U.S. military policies.

The White House announced last Thursday that President Trump decided to change the name to the “Department of War,” asserting that the move aims to project a more powerful and determined image.

According to an official document, Trump will sign an executive order allowing the use of “Department of War” as a “secondary name” for the department, given that its official name is fixed by law. The document explained that the new designation “reflects a stronger message of readiness and resolve.”

In recent weeks, he reiterated his desire for this change, considering that the name “defense” is “too defensive.” He told reporters on August 25 that “this was the name when we won World War I and World War II, we won everything,” adding that he “doesn’t want to just be defensive,” but also intends to “attack.”

It is noteworthy that the “Department of War” was established in the early days of U.S. independence to oversee ground forces, before being dissolved as part of a government reorganization after World War II, where it was merged with the Navy and Air Force under the “National Military Establishment,” which later in 1949 became the Department of Defense.
