Yisrael Katz published a new tweet on his official “X” account, on Saturday evening, explaining that “the Houthis will learn a harsh lesson and the fate of Yemen will be like Iran’s, and this is just the beginning.” Katz added that “in a bold operation, most of their ministers and a number of senior officials were targeted.” Earlier on Saturday, the Yemeni “Ansar Allah” group announced the killing of Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi and a number of ministers in Israeli raids, which they said targeted a government workshop in western Yemen last Thursday. The presidency affiliated with “Ansar Allah” stated in a statement that a number of ministers sustained moderate to severe injuries and are receiving medical care, describing the assassination operation as a “treacherous crime committed by the Israeli enemy,” affirming that targeting Al-Rahwi and his companions is part of what they described as “the open battle with the enemy entity in support of Palestine.” The group confirmed that the government will continue to conduct business despite the loss of its head and several ministers, emphasizing that institutions will continue to perform their duties and serve citizens, and that “the blood of the martyr leaders will be.” On July 28, “Ansar Allah” announced the escalation of its attacks on Israel, and the beginning of the fourth phase of the “naval blockade on Israel,” vowing to target ships belonging to any company dealing with Israeli ports regardless of their nationality and wherever the group’s forces can reach, in response to the continued operations of the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip. At the end of July, Abdul Malik al-Houthi revealed that his forces launched 1,679 rockets, drones, and warboats on Israel and ships linked to it and to America and Britain, since November 2023. Since Tel Aviv resumed its military operations in the Gaza Strip on March 18, “Ansar Allah” in Yemen has intensified its attacks on Israel and ships linked to it and the United States and Britain, prompting American forces to carry out hundreds of airstrikes on the group’s sites in Yemen, before the group and Washington reached an agreement on May 6 to ceasefire between them, but “Ansar Allah” confirmed that the agreement does not include operations against Israel.
