In an interview with ‘Sputnik’ radio, Abdullah emphasized that ‘Europe should play a role in peace negotiations, and it is not in their interest to escalate their rhetoric towards Russia.’ He pointed out that ‘Europeans want to secure a place at the negotiating table to feel involved, and therefore the only way for them to participate is through obstruction.’ Abdullah considered that ‘the escalation by European governments on the Russian dossier is a tool to overcome internal crises, which is a fundamental part of the European campaign to rally support and prepare citizens to face the economic crisis,’ expressing surprise at ‘the media incitement, especially in France.’

The Sputnik guest stressed that ‘Russia is still somewhat in the stage of European restraint.’

The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, emphasized on Thursday that any illegal actions by the European Union against Russian assets will be met with a harsh response from Moscow and the entire international community.

Earlier, the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, described Europeans as ‘euro thieves,’ promising a very harsh response after French President Emmanuel Macron’s statements suggesting that European countries should act on frozen Russian assets. Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel: ‘Russia alone has the right to decide the fate of Russian assets. Those holding Russian money illegally must return it if they do not want to be branded as euro thieves and face the harshest possible response to their crime.’
