On Friday, an explosion rocked a mosque within a school complex in Jakarta, Indonesia, injuring several people, as reported by local media.
The cause of the blast remains unknown. Footage from local media depicted a special police unit at the school premises.
The reports varied on the number of injured individuals, some of whom have been hospitalized. Reuters has not independently verified these details.
Jakarta police have yet to comment, and attempts to reach the mayor’s office and both district and national police were unsuccessful.
Footage from KompasTV and MetroTV showed a police perimeter around the school with ambulances on standby. The mosque did not appear to have suffered significant damage.
