Talk about going to great lengths for your hero. A fervent devotee of Telugu star and politician Pawan Kalyan shelled out Rs 130,000 (approximately Dh5,415) for an early screening ticket to his latest film, They Call Him OG, which typically costs Rs 800.
The fan, Amudala Paramesh, snagged the ticket at an auction for a benefit show at Srinivasa Theatre in Choutuppal, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, Telangana, on September 21, as reported by The Hindu. Paramesh outbid numerous others to claim the coveted “golden ticket” for the 1 am show on September 25, coinciding with the film’s theatrical release.
Paramesh faced fierce competition in the bidding war. He chose to pay the hefty price to honor his admiration for Kalyan, who also serves as Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister. Proceeds from the auction will benefit Kalyan’s political faction, the Jana Sena Party.
The Telangana government has temporarily permitted a price increase in theatre tickets for the film’s premiere. Tickets for the special September 24 show will be Rs 800. For 10 days, single-screen cinemas and multiplexes can levy an additional Rs 100 and Rs 150, respectively. Regular pricing, Rs 177 for single screens and Rs 295 for multiplexes, will resume after October 4, according to the Deccan Chronicle.
Produced by DVV Entertainment and directed by Sujeeth, They Call Him OG features Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi, Priyanka Arul Mohan, Prakash Raj, and Arjun Das in key roles. SS Thaman composed the music.
A teaser video showcasing the intimidating Omi, played by Hashmi, was recently released along with a poster. The clip reveals Hashmi with a rugged appearance, embarking on a killing spree, and delivering a chilling message to Kalyan.
Kalyan’s previous appearance was in the historical drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu, alongside Bobby Deol and Nidhhi Agerwal.
