The Football Supporters Europe (FSE) group urged FIFA on Thursday to halt ticket sales for the upcoming World Cup due to their “exorbitant” prices.

FSE reports that tickets for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, scheduled from June 11 to July 19, are nearly five times more expensive than those for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“Football Supporters Europe is shocked by the exorbitant ticket costs imposed by FIFA on the most loyal fans for next year’s World Cup,” stated the FSE, a leading fan advocacy group.

They highlighted that tickets allocated to national associations, usually offered through official fan clubs or loyalty programs to committed supporters, have reached “astronomical” prices.

“According to FSE’s current data, following a team from the first match to the final would cost a supporter at least $6,900.

“We urge FIFA to stop ticket sales immediately, consult with all affected parties, and reassess ticket prices and category allocations until a resolution that honors the World Cup’s tradition, universality, and cultural importance is achieved.”

FSE noted that World Cup organizers had previously promised significantly lower prices, referencing a 2018 bid document that listed tickets from $21.

“Where are these tickets now?” they questioned.

“The total cost to attend from the opening match to the final, according to the same bid book, was meant to be $2,242 for the cheapest category. This commitment has vanished.”
