The club, which has been chasing its first Turkish league title since 2014, announced on its official “X” platform account today, Friday, that it has parted ways with coach José Mourinho, who took over at the beginning of the 2024-2025 season. The Turkish team added: “We thank him for his efforts with the team and wish him success in his future endeavors.”
It is noted that Mourinho, 62, was contracted in June 2024 after the Italian team Roma let him go. Mourinho took charge of the Turkish team’s coaching staff, succeeding national coach Ismail Kartal.
It is worth mentioning that hundreds of thousands of fans of Fenerbahçe, based in Istanbul, celebrated Mourinho when he took over last summer, in an effort to end the dominance of their traditional rival Galatasaray in recent years. However, Fenerbahçe’s poor start to the season and early European struggles put the Portuguese coach under immense pressure.
