The nights were inaugurated amidst festive and joyful atmospheres, as the alleys of the ancient market were adorned with lights, bringing movement and warmth back to its historic corners. This initiative comes as part of the efforts by the municipality and relevant entities to revive Lebanese heritage and support local artisans and artists.
The activities were not limited to handicrafts alone but also included live artistic performances that added a special vitality to the place. Attendees enjoyed the tunes of authentic Lebanese music and the traditional dabke dances, which brought together both adults and children, in addition to some heritage shows that revived stories and tales from times past.
Beyond handicrafts and artistic performances, traditional Lebanese cuisine had a significant presence in the “Nights of the Ancient Market.” Stalls offering the most delicious local foods and drinks, from hot manakish and pies to traditional sweets and refreshing beverages, were spread throughout, adding another dimension to the visitors’ experience as they enjoyed delicious meals in a genuinely traditional atmosphere.
