On Tuesday, FIA President Mohammed ben Sulayem highlighted a pivotal week for global motorsport and mobility in Uzbekistan, committing to drive positive changes worldwide.

Ben Sulayem greeted nearly 500 senior FIA delegates from 149 countries at the FIA Annual General Assemblies in Tashkent, leading up to Friday’s 2025 FIA Presidential Election and the FIA Awards.

“I take pride in what we’ve accomplished over the past four years. My focus remains on ensuring the FIA becomes an organization that provides significant value to society,” he stated.

“Globally, we are enhancing motorsport participation through grassroots initiatives and inclusive programs like the Affordable Cross Car and the Global Karting Plan.

“Simultaneously, we are bolstering our mobility mission across all regions, strengthening our role in the automotive ecosystem and spearheading discussions on sustainable cities, safer roads, and the future of transport.”

The FIA, the global authority for motorsport and mobility organizations, also welcomed Uzbekistan as the latest to join the United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) Charter.

Ben Sulayem, the UAOA Founder, met with Adkham Ilkhamovich Ikramov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Sports, to sign the UAOA Charter, incorporating the nation into a growing global coalition against online abuse in sports.

Recognized as a major challenge in sports today, online abuse threatens performance, welfare, and participation, impacting athletes, officials, volunteers, and fans at all levels.

Uzbekistan, with a rich sporting history and a modern sports powerhouse, is dedicated to promoting safer digital spaces in sports to protect its national athletes, acknowledging the importance of a united global effort.

“Sport is a powerful force for good in society, and we must protect its future. Together with over 75 partners globally, we are enacting lasting changes by combating online abuse and safeguarding our sports community,” he emphasized.
