The ministry clarified that the incident occurred at 6:40 PM during routine operations to prepare the gas line for maintenance at the valve complex, as reported by the Egyptian “Al-Ahram”. The ministry confirmed that the affected sector was completely emptied before the commencement of the operations, indicating that initial investigations showed the explosion resulted from the separation of the sending trap from the line at the weld point.
It noted that emergency teams, six ambulances, and three fire trucks were dispatched to the site to transport the injured to the hospital for treatment.
The Ministry of Petroleum confirmed that the incident did not affect natural gas supplies and offered condolences to the families of the victims, noting that it is closely monitoring the situation and investigating the circumstances.
The site of the incident witnessed on-site monitoring by officials alongside local leaders and officials of the National Network for Emergency and Public Safety Services.
