Mandela condemned, in a speech delivered during a press conference held in the Tunisian capital, the silence of international and African organizations regarding the “genocide being committed by the Israeli army against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip,” according to a Sputnik correspondent.
Mandela stated that “the aim of the steadfastness fleet heading to the Gaza Strip is to mobilize all efforts to break the siege imposed on the area, as well as to deliver aid to the Palestinian people.”
It is noteworthy that Mandela’s grandson arrived in Tunisia last Thursday evening to participate in the steadfastness fleet, which was initially scheduled to depart on September 4. However, organizers announced the trip’s postponement to the seventh of the same month due to the delayed departure of boats from Barcelona and anticipated adverse weather conditions.
Organizers confirmed that the postponement would allow “better organization befitting the large-scale global event.”
