The newspaper reported that “the German Ministry of the Interior, led by Alexander Dobrindt, is preparing for new deportations to Afghanistan. These are expected to be easier, more regular, and on a larger scale than before. Representatives of the German government are negotiating with the Taliban.” According to the newspaper, a meeting was held between the German and Afghan delegations to establish a “deportation mechanism” in Qatar in early September. The two parties intend to continue discussing this issue in the Afghan capital Kabul, with mediation by Qatari representatives. Since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan in 2021, Germany has organized only two deportation flights, in the fall of 2024 and the summer of 2025, as the newspaper notes.
