Green Hydrogen Projects in Morocco Funded by AFD

The funding for these three projects came through the French Development Agency (AFD), following a thorough evaluation conducted by local and international specialists, reflecting the importance of directing investments towards innovative solutions in the low-carbon renewable energy sector. The first project, “GreenH2Hub,” aligns with the circular economy approach and values local resources.

The second project, “DakH2A,” aims to develop technology for producing e-fuel from green hydrogen and carbon dioxide captured from the air by improving capture processes to reduce costs.

In the same context, the Deputy Director of the French Development Agency in Morocco, Bertrand Bocci, indicated that these initiatives represent a foundation for developing joint industrial solutions that enhance energy sovereignty and serve a global green future, emphasizing that green hydrogen will be a main pillar in the energy transition.

Meanwhile, the General Director of the Research Institute for Solar Energy and New Energies, Samir Rachidi, stated that technology transfer and cooperative innovation are crucial tools for accelerating the energy transition and establishing the two countries as strategic partners in the green molecules market.

The summit and its accompanying programs confirmed that green hydrogen in Morocco has become a strategic option, opening the way for international partnerships and major investments, and positioning Morocco on the path to becoming a central industrial hub in North Africa and Europe.
