Gulf Giants Announce Star-Studded Coaching Squad

As the fourth season of the ILT20 approaches, the Gulf Giants have unveiled a formidable coaching squad in anticipation of the league’s inaugural auction, signaling a strong pursuit of the championship.

Jonathan Trott steps in as head coach, known for his outstanding record as one of England’s most technically proficient batters. Transitioning to coaching, Trott led Afghanistan to an unprecedented ICC T20 World Cup 2024 semifinal and a remarkable ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign. As a player, he amassed 3,835 runs in 52 Tests and 2,819 runs in 68 ODIs with an average of 51, scoring four centuries and 22 fifties.

Joining Trott is New Zealand’s pace legend Shane Bond as the bowling coach. Bond, a veteran with 259 wickets in 120 internationals, has over a decade of coaching experience, including national duties with New Zealand and T20 franchise roles in the IPL and UAE ILT20.

South African Andrew Puttick, with nearly 17,000 first-class runs, will act as the batting coach, having worked with teams like Afghanistan, South Africa, and Pakistan. Jamie Troughton, a former England player, will manage fielding efforts, while experienced fitness coach Nick Lee returns to collaborate with Trott as the Strength & Conditioning Coach, having worked with Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.

The revamped coaching team reflects Adani Sportsline’s strategy to foster talent and create a growth-oriented environment, with players like UAE all-rounder Aayan Khan and Zimbabwean pacer Blessing Muzarabani being notable successes.

Expressing his excitement to join as head coach, Trott stated, “The Gulf Giants have rapidly risen as one of ILT20’s top teams. My aim is to empower players to excel and shape a championship-winning team through the first-ever ILT20 Auction.”

Bond concurred, “The team’s ambition is evident. I’m eager to enhance our bowling prowess and make a significant impact this season.”

Puttick remarked, “Working with a setup that prioritizes player development is an honor. I look forward to contributing to our shared success.”

Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer at Adani Sportsline, commented, “We are excited to welcome this exceptional group of cricket experts. Their experience and shared values will be crucial in elevating the Gulf Giants’ success.”
