Smotrich wrote on the “X” platform: “Hamas is under great pressure because of the occupation of Gaza, as they realize this will lead to their elimination and the end of the story. Therefore, they are trying to stop it by reintroducing the partial deal. This is exactly why we will not surrender and give the enemy a lifeline,” according to the “Times of Israel.” An informed Egyptian source announced today, Monday, that the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” has agreed to a ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip, which was presented by Qatari and Egyptian mediators yesterday, Sunday.

The source stated, “This step opens the way to reach a comprehensive agreement in the best possible ways, without endangering the lives of the hostages held through further intensive military operations, in addition to avoiding events that exacerbate the humanitarian situation for the residents of the Gaza Strip who are already suffering greatly.”

The proposal includes a path to reaching a comprehensive agreement to end the war, involving a temporary halt to military operations, during which Israeli forces will redeploy along the lines guaranteed by the proposal, and intensive humanitarian aid will enter to meet the basic needs of the sector’s residents. During this period, a number of Palestinian prisoners will be exchanged for half of the Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

The source confirmed that “these are the best available options to protect the residents of the Gaza Strip from military escalation, which the Israeli government has approved and intends to initiate, leading to more casualties in Gaza and worsening the humanitarian situation in the sector and the condition of the hostages.” Hamas had received a new proposal aimed at resuming negotiations from mediators in the indirect negotiations regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
