The results showed that individuals who consume whole grain cereals, vegetables, and fruits have a 14% lower risk of developing illnesses compared to those who skip breakfast or rely on low-fiber foods, according to the Times of India.
The study explained that dietary fiber enhances bowel movement, which accelerates waste elimination and reduces the exposure of the colon lining to potential carcinogens. Researchers recommended having a balanced breakfast that includes oats, whole grains, fruits, fermented yogurt, and nuts to maintain health.
Conversely, they warned against excessive consumption of processed meats, such as sausages and ham, which are linked to a higher risk of cancer due to their preservative content. They also emphasized the importance of early screening after the age of 45 as an effective means of detecting the disease in its early stages.
Experts noted that regularly consuming a healthy daily breakfast, even if simple, is a practical step for long-term protection. They added that a fiber-rich breakfast is not just an active start to the day, but a long-term investment in colon health and cancer prevention.
