Abu Zainab explained in an intervention on ‘Sputnik’ radio that what highlighted this event was the attempt by some to politicize it and attack it, which provoked wide segments of Lebanese supporters of Mr. Nasrallah, and this support is not limited to just one sect.

He pointed out that Hezbollah, through this step, wanted to send a clear message that the situation in Beirut is very normal, and that the party, like any Lebanese citizen, has the right to engage in peaceful activities that express its opinion, independent of any American or Israeli domination or suppression. We are moving freely and peacefully, and we will not succumb to these pressures.

He concluded by saying: ‘We do not need to prove our popularity, as it is firmly rooted in all essential aspects. The evidence is in the municipal elections, and the first anniversary of his martyrdom will reaffirm that we possess the foremost popular strength in Lebanon, acknowledged by everyone.’
