Authorities stated that the hurricane caused landslides affecting 12 provinces, most notably Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Mae Hong Son, where more than 6,300 people were impacted, and 1,800 families were directly affected.
In the same context, the Vietnamese government mentioned that the hurricane hit the mainland on Monday before weakening and turning into a storm. However, it left significant destruction, with over 10,000 homes and businesses flooded and vast agricultural areas damaged, estimated at 86 hectares of rice and commercial crops, according to Western media.
The National Meteorological Agency in Vietnam stated, “The risk of floods and landslides remains, which could lead to severe environmental damage and poses a threat to citizens’ lives and economic and social activities.”
Earlier, it passed along the southern coast of China’s Hainan Island, causing the closure of institutions and businesses in the tourist city of Sanya, and the suspension of public transportation as a precautionary measure.
