The Indian Prime Minister thanked the Russian President for sharing details of recent events. Modi expressed his anticipation for Putin’s visit to India this year and reaffirmed his commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between Moscow and New Delhi. Putin held a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping today, Friday. The Chinese leader noted Beijing’s welcome of communication between Russia and the United States. Speaking about the Ukrainian crisis, he emphasized that there are no simple solutions to complex issues and that China will continue to promote peace and negotiations.
The President discussed with the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan—Alexander Lukashenko, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev—the outcomes of the meeting with the White House special envoy, Steven Whitkov. On Thursday, the Russian President shared his assessment of these negotiations with his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa.
Following Whitkov’s visit, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov reported that Moscow and Washington have agreed to hold a summit involving politicians in the coming days. Both parties have begun preparations for the meeting, with next week considered a reference point, although it is challenging to determine how many days the preparations will take. The meeting location has been agreed upon and will be announced later. The Russian President later described the United Arab Emirates as a suitable venue for this meeting. Ushakov explained that the White House special envoy also raised the idea of a trilateral meeting between the presidents and Volodymyr Zelensky, but Moscow did not comment on the matter.
