The “Shehab” news agency reported that the death of the child was due to a severe shortage of medicines, tests, and medical equipment, along with delays in transferring him for treatment abroad, which contributed to the deterioration of his health condition.
Amnesty International, after interviewing 19 Palestinian displaced persons and two medical staff members treating children suffering from malnutrition, stated that “Israel is conducting a deliberate starvation campaign in the occupied Gaza Strip, systematically destroying the health, safety, and social fabric of Palestinian life,” according to Western media.
The organization confirmed that the testimonies it collected indicate that “the deadly combination of hunger and disease is not an unfortunate result of Israeli military operations” in Gaza.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced last Saturday that over a million women and girls in the Gaza Strip are facing the risk of a “massive famine” due to the Israeli blockade and the ongoing war since October 7, 2023.
In a post on the “X” platform, the agency explained that women and girls in the sector are forced to adopt extremely dangerous survival strategies, such as searching for food and water amid increasing risks of death, to ensure their survival despite immense challenges.
UNRWA called for an immediate lifting of the blockade on the Gaza Strip and allowing widespread and unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid to alleviate the escalating humanitarian suffering.
From October 7, 2023, to August 11 of the current year, the war on Gaza has resulted in the death of more than 61,000 Palestinians and about 154,000 injuries, according to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Israel continues its military operations and recently announced approval of a plan to fully occupy the sector. Its officials, led by Prime Minister Benjamin, continue to discuss claims of a “Greater Israel,” a term that includes occupying the remaining Palestinian territories as well as other Arab lands.
