The newspaper added that Indian companies such as Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) continue to purchase oil from Russian suppliers. The newspaper’s sources stated that Indian oil refineries have recently bought two batches of Russian oil at higher-than-usual discounts.
The newspaper said: ‘Indian oil marketing companies are currently negotiating supplies from Russia. There is no decision to slow down or stop oil supplies from Russia, nor is there a decision to halt imports.’
Earlier, Trump stated that India would stop buying oil from Russia in order to reach a trade agreement with the United States. He pointed out that India, alongside China, is one of the largest importers of Russian energy resources and announced that he would impose a 25% tariff on imports from India to the United States.
