The Consulate General of India has warned against fraudulent agents charging “exorbitant fees” for repatriating the remains of Indian nationals.

The Consulate states it provides support through its ICWF-backed community associations for repatriating remains following Indian government guidelines.

If the deceased lacks an employer/sponsor or insurance for repatriation costs, families are not required to pay.

UAE law requires employers to cover all costs related to preparing and transporting a deceased worker’s body home, upon family request.

The Consulate urges Indians to trust only official information from the Consulate General of India in Dubai & Northern Emirates.

This advisory follows a social media campaign highlighting agents illegally overcharging for transporting family members’ remains.
