Jaipur Watch Company, led by its founder and designer Gaurav Mehta, marked a pivotal moment in India’s luxury and design industry when Prime Minister Narendra Modi donned their Roman Baagh watch. This endorsement underscores the rapid growth of India’s premium goods sector and the increasing global influence of domestic luxury brands.

The Prime Minister’s choice signals a rising confidence in Indian luxury products. Crafted by Gaurav Mehta, the Roman Baagh collection features a rare 1947 one-rupee coin in its 43mm stainless steel case, driven by a durable Japanese Miyota movement. The inclusion of this historic coin, commemorating India’s independence year, elevates the watch as a collectible blending heritage, craftsmanship, and modern precision.

This event is a strategic indicator of the trajectory of India’s luxury market. With the sector’s growth driven by premiumisation, rising purchasing power, and global demand for culturally rich designs, the Prime Minister’s choice bolsters the case for Indian luxury brands on the global stage.

“India’s design language is undergoing a significant transformation,” the company noted. “This recognition reaffirms the commercial strength, cultural richness, and global competitiveness of indigenous luxury, now poised for major international growth.”

The Jaipur Watch Company plans to expand into the UAE, with its first retail outlets in Dubai expected by 2026.
