Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s Request to Trump

On Monday, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto asked US President Donald Trump if he could meet Eric Trump, an executive VP at the Trump Organization. This request came after a summit in Egypt focused on Gaza, where their conversation was inadvertently picked up by a live microphone.

The video showed Trump and Prabowo seemingly unaware of the live recording as they spoke in Sharm el-Sheikh. Trump had just addressed global leaders at the summit following a Gaza ceasefire announcement.

Neither the White House, Prabowo’s office, Indonesia’s foreign ministry, nor the Trump Organization’s partner, MNC Group, provided comments on the conversation.

The audio didn’t clearly indicate if they were discussing the Trump Organization or any specific business deals involving Trump’s family.

Standing at a podium, Prabowo mentioned a “not safe” region and asked Trump: “Can I meet Eric?”

Trump responded: “I’ll have Eric call. Should I do that? He’s such a good boy. I’ll have Eric call.”

Prabowo mentioned “Hary” and suggested finding a “better place”.

Trump reiterated: “I’ll have Eric call you.”

Prabowo added: “Eric or Don Jr.”

Eric and Donald Trump Jr. both serve as executive VPs at the Trump Organization, which deals in real estate, hospitality, and blockchain ventures.

LONG-TIME TRUMP PARTNER

It’s unclear who “Hary” refers to, but Hary Tanoesoedibjo, a long-time Trump Organization partner, is a likely candidate. He founded MNC Group and attended Trump’s inauguration.

MNC Land, part of MNC Group, operates a resort south of Jakarta in partnership with Trump. In February, environmental issues halted its development.

Additionally, the Trump Organization and MNC Land are building a luxury resort and golf club in Bali. Listed as “coming soon” on Trump’s site, both projects are delayed.
