He added in a special statement to ‘Sputnik’ that it reflects the will of the vast majority in the international community, led by the four significant member states of the Security Council, in addition to all other countries that agreed to the declaration and stood by the Palestinian cause. He believes that what happened with international recognition of the Palestinian state is an important prelude for the Palestinian issue, which is now on the international agenda. He emphasized that it now witnesses a situation similar to that of South Africa in the early 1990s when the apartheid regime faced international isolation and overwhelming support from all over the world to dismantle the racist apartheid system.

He pointed out that the position of the international community now supports and endorses the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state on their national soil, along the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, considering this as the true guarantee for peace, security, and stability in the region.

In a statement, it considered the decisions of these countries as courageous, aligning with international law and legitimate international resolutions, driven by the interest of those countries to end the occupation and achieve peace, ensuring security, stability, and prosperity for the region and the world.

It added that it ‘confirms the readiness and willingness of the State of Palestine and its legitimate government to initiate building stronger and more genuine relationships with these countries on all levels.’

The ministry viewed the recognition by countries of Palestine as acknowledgments of the fair and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, ensuring the protection of the two-state solution from threats posed by ongoing starvation, displacement, and annexation committed by the occupying authorities against our people. It gives more momentum to regional and international efforts led by Saudi Arabia and France to implement the New York Declaration aimed at achieving the immediate cessation of war and resolving the conflict through political negotiations, restoring the role of international law and legitimacy in achieving peace instead of the arrogance of power.

The declaration, supporting the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, is the outcome of an international conference hosted by the United Nations and organized by Saudi Arabia and France last July to discuss the decades-long conflict course.

It is noteworthy that the two-state solution is a political proposal aiming to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by establishing two independent states, a Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, alongside the State of Israel, which aligns with the vision of the international community.
