Today, Friday, ‘Irna’ reported that Araqchi’s statements came during his meeting with the High Representative for Foreign Affairs in the European Union, Kaja Kallas, in the Qatari capital, Doha. He explained that he expects Mrs. Kallas to fulfill her duty within the framework of the ‘Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action’ (the nuclear agreement), Resolution 2231, and to play her role in thwarting attempts against diplomacy. The Iranian minister pointed to the responsibility placed on the High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Union (EU), as the ‘coordinator of the Joint Commission of the nuclear agreement.’ He highlighted Iran’s sustained commitment to the path of diplomacy, emphasizing that his country is serious about this stance and will continue to maintain it.

For her part, she considered that diplomacy and negotiation are the only way to alleviate concerns for all parties, pointing out the necessity of giving diplomacy more opportunities. During the second meeting, discussions and exchanges of views took place regarding the latest developments related to the Iranian nuclear file, especially in light of what Araqchi described as the ‘irresponsible and unjustified action taken by the European troika to reactivate the canceled Security Council resolutions.’

The minister explained that the International Atomic Energy Agency acknowledged the need to establish a new framework for cooperation, according to the Iranian ‘Tasnim’ agency. Earlier, Iranian President Masoud mentioned that dialogue and communication with America regarding Tehran’s nuclear program ‘do not mean defeat or surrender.’ Bezshkian stressed, in a meeting with Iranian media, that his government ‘has not taken any step without interaction and coordination with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and will not do so in the future.’
