This Thursday morning, Iran’s IRNA reported that Kazem Jalali stated Iran is nearing the finalization of a text for an agreement between the two countries. This was in response to the outcomes of the recent meeting between Iranian President Masoud Bazashkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin in China. The Iranian diplomat explained that the meeting between Putin and Bazashkian explored all dimensions of Iran-Russia relations, particularly economic projects, indicating that this meeting paved the way for agreements to progress quickly in making necessary decisions for project implementation.
It should be noted that Iran’s Oil Minister, Mohsen Paknejad, stated on April 25th that “negotiations regarding the exchange are ongoing, with only a few outstanding issues remaining. The quantity details will be announced in the first phase once final understandings are reached.”
Tavakoli noted that the understandings with the Russian side have reached advanced stages, and this step is pivotal in activating Iran’s energy strategy within the objectives of the ‘Seventh Development Program.’ He pointed out that the project still requires more precise studies, but the ongoing understandings are moving positively and are a major support in facilitating regional energy cooperation. He emphasized that cooperation with Western neighboring countries, in particular, is considered complementary to partnerships with the East, enhancing the building of an effective regional gas transmission network.
