Last Tuesday evening, IRNA reported a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry, saying, “The American statement came under the pretext of the anniversary of the disturbances that occurred in the country three years ago.” The Iranian Foreign Ministry considered the American statement a clear example of aggressive and criminal American interference in Iranian internal affairs.
In a related context, it was announced last Tuesday that new sanctions related to Iran were imposed. These included 4 individuals and 12 entities, accused of “involvement in activities coordinating the transfer of funds benefiting the Revolutionary Guard and the Ministry of Defense in Iran.”
On July 30, the U.S. Treasury Department announced the largest package of sanctions related to Iran since 2018. This included more than 100 individuals, entities, and oil tankers linked to Hossein Shamkhani, the son of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Shamkhani’s political advisor.
Iran has repeatedly condemned U.S. sanctions policy, affirming that it will not deter them from developing their nuclear and missile programs, nor will it halt their oil trade.
It is worth noting that Israel and Iran exchanged airstrikes and missile attacks that lasted from June 13 to June 24. The conflict included Iran bombing “strategic targets” and Israel destroying several vital targets in Iran. It also involved American and Israeli bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities, followed by an Iranian attack on the American Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar on June 24, 2025, before U.S. President Donald Trump announced that both parties had reached a ceasefire.
