The Iranian police media center reported that the incident occurred while a security patrol was performing its routine duties in the city, where it was attacked by unidentified gunmen. The statement explained that the security forces responded to the sources of gunfire, resulting in the death of three attackers, while the others fled, according to Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
The Iranian police added that the clash also resulted in the death of one of its officers and the injury of another, who was transferred to a medical facility for treatment. Pursuit operations to track down the remaining perpetrators are ongoing.
