Abadi stated in a post on ‘X’ that if Europe proceeds to activate the ‘trigger mechanism,’ Iran will respond with reciprocal measures, including halting cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency. Abadi pointed out that the recent entry of agency inspectors was limited to supervising fuel loading at the Bushehr plant and did not include the resumption of inspections, emphasizing that no new text for cooperation with the agency has been reached or adopted yet.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ismail Baghaei, announced a meeting with the three European countries yesterday in Geneva. He confirmed that communications between Tehran and the European side will continue in the coming days.

The talks took place in the context of a statement issued by the Group of Three (Britain, France, and Germany) regarding their readiness to use a mechanism to re-impose international sanctions if Tehran does not agree to the nuclear deal by the end of August or extend UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which approved the 2015 Iranian nuclear agreement and expires on October 18, 2025. The European countries demanded that Iran start talks with the United States to reach a new agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.
