The expansion near the Umm Al Sheif exit on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai aims to ease traffic congestion and streamline commutes.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has widened a 700-metre section of this major roadway, increasing lanes from six to seven. This enhancement boosts capacity by 16%, allowing up to 14,000 vehicles per hour.

Sheikh Zayed Road is a crucial and bustling highway in Dubai, strategically positioned as a key economic corridor. It is flanked by residential areas, schools, and significant commercial and financial hubs such as the Dubai International Financial Centre, Burj Khalifa, and Dubai Mall.

The additional lane is designed to enhance traffic flow from Abu Dhabi near the Umm Al Sheif Street exit by eliminating congestion points at the Umm Al Sheif junction, notorious for evening rush hour traffic. This development is set to decrease travel time and enhance safety by reducing traffic density.

This initiative is part of RTA’s broader efforts to enhance traffic management across Dubai.
